It’s releasing in a competitive month, but it’s not likely to be overlooked even by Elden Ring. This goes to show how the IP has only grown in popularity since Horizon Zero Dawn first released, as many overlooked it as it came out close to Zelda: Breath of the Wild. That’s the past, now, though, and many more will be diving into Aloy’s adventure day one next month.

Of course, everything shown for Horizon Forbidden West thus far has been nothing short of beautiful. It’s attracted a ton of players who may not have even played the first game. As a sequel, it may not be too necessary to have played the first one, but it will definitely help with returning characters and returning concepts such as GAIA and HADES. The best part is that, if players start the game soon, they can almost certainly beat the game before Horizon Forbidden West on February 18.

How Long to Beat Horizon Zero Dawn and DLC

Horizon Zero Dawn – Main Story 22. 5 hours; Main Story + Extras 44 Hours; Completionist 60 Hours Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds – Main Story 8 hours; Main Story + Extras 13 hours; Completionist 18 hours

If players were to do a full completionist playthrough, including the Frozen Wilds DLC, that would be roughly 78 hours of gameplay. That’s a little more than 3 days, and while that would be hard for many gamers, it’s not impossible if they find themselves falling in love with Aloy and Horizon Zero Dawn. Still, just completing the main story of both the base game and DLC would put players into a reasonable 30-hour window. That’s easily accomplishable by February 18.

How Long to Beat Horizon Forbidden West

Of course, that also begs the question about how long Horizon Forbidden West will be. Neither Sony nor Guerrilla Games, unfortunately, have commented on it, making it impossible to tell. Horizon Forbidden West’s file size is huge compared to the first game, but that’s not really a reliable metric either. Reasonably, fans should assume it to be around the same length, perhaps a little longer, and keep an eye out for any news about it that may crop up before release. However, if it hits the same high marks as the first game, it’s reasonable that many players may be investing much more time in it than is required to beat it.
